SEVEN IMPORTANT POINTS FOR VOTERS
1. Voters may obtain assistance at the polls or
voters may bring someone to assist them in voting to the polls
(provided it is not the voter’s employer, employer’s agent, a
representative of the voter’s union or an agent of the voter’s union).
2. Mobile County has a new voting system. It
may take longer for a voter to complete their ballot. Allow
yourself plenty of time to vote.
3. If you are in line to vote at 7:00 p.m. at your
assigned voting precinct, you will be permitted to vote.
4. Mobile County’s new voting system has new features
that are designed to enhance the ability of persons with disabilities
and persons who cannot read and write, to vote without
assistance. You must indicate that you are a person with a
disability or a person who cannot read and write.
5. A voter does not have to identify with a political
party in order to participate in the General Election.
6. Mobile County’s new paper ballot system provides
for a voter to vote for all of the candidates of one political party
(commonly referred to as voting a “Straight Ticket”). A voter can
mark the straight ticket box and then vote for specific candidates in a
different political party. A voter can also vote for a person
whose name is not on the ballot (Write-In” Candidate).
7. Voters must furnish identification before they
will be permitted to vote. There are many acceptable forms of
identification available. Be sure to have one of acceptable forms
of identification with you when you go to the polls. Please refer
to the Probate Court’s internet website for additional information.
